|Have you ever been inspired by someone's "health story?" Well this one will knock your socks off. |
One of the speakers I booked for the Keto Symposium is Josh Perry. You might not recognize his name but he has one of the most interesting stories you'll ever hear. When he was 17 years old, he had the opportunity to move across the country to train and ride bikes with his idols. So, he dropped out of college, moved across the country, and worked every day to get to the next level of BMX riding. He became a pro BMX rider at 21. He toured with his heroes, competed at several Dew Tours and X-Games events, and lived the life of his dreams. Then, he had a nasty head accident that threatened his life. It alerted doctors to the fact that there was something very serious happening:
He had a cancerous brain tumor that took up the whole left side of his brain. It needed to be surgically removed immediately.
Many of the doctors questioned if he’d ever be able to ride a bike again.
To their surprise, he was back on a bike just 5 weeks later.
This all happened back in 2010.
Since then, he’s fought through two more brain tumor diagnoses, which led him down the rabbit hole of health and nutrition so he could feel more empowered and in control of his destiny. And he’s learned a lot about mental fortitude along the way of living his dream life, having it stripped away, overcoming it, then struggling from a similar diagnosis two more times – about how to be grateful and how to choose happiness even when it seems your world is crashing around you. Sometimes, we make life harder than it needs to be. And Josh can teach us how to focus on what's important. I booked Josh to be our “motivational speaker” at the Keto Symposium to remind us all to enjoy our lives and live it to the fullest even when we’re battling with demons of our own.
